THE FACE BEHIND THE FACES
AND THE BRAIN BEHIND THE BOARDS
“The concept for Guess Youniverse was present in my mind for many moons before it came to exist in the real world. The impetus for its creation came when I decided to leave a job I had worked at for a long time. Throughout my years at the company, I had built relationships that I knew would far outlast the job itself, and so a bunch of farewell flowers or a box of chocolates was far from the parting gift I hoped to give to my colleagues. With an unwavering desire to gift something truly unique and personal, I knew I’d have to make it myself - and I was quick to realise what ‘it’ was.
Vault opened, lightbulb flashing, I teamed up with friend, and co-creative, Zoë Eady. After many more moons, multiple prototypes, and more cups of tea than I can count (soya milk, one sugar), Zoë’s incredibly inventive and original board design paired with my artistic input and character illustrations birthed the very first incarnation of a Guess Youniverse game.
The blood, sweat and tears culminated not only a gift that I knew couldn’t be found or bought anywhere else, but a creation that I was immensely proud of. And these feelings were entirely vindicated in the response the game received from my colleagues - so exceptionally positive that I immediately knew the journey couldn’t end there.
And so it didn’t.”
